Capacities Student Discount
Capacities grew out of our founders’ experience at university, where they saw how limited the tools for learning and thinking were. Before building Capacities, they spent years studying and trying to work within the systems they had, convinced there must be a better way. That experience shaped the way we design Capacities: a calm, focused space where you can think, learn, and create without distraction.
Our paying users have funded all of Capacities’ growth and our team of 6 full-time employees. We’re now in a position to offer a 40% discount of our annual Capacities Pro plan for currently enrolled students. We know what it’s like to be a student, and we know how powerful Capacities Pro can be for your studies.
Eligibility
Eligibility is verified and guidelines are strict so the program reaches those it’s meant for.
You must be a student and currently enrolled full-time or part-time at an accredited institution (school or university). Your enrollment must be valid for at least 3 more months when applying.
The discount is not available to education staff, institutions, or NGOs.
Required Verification
Official proof of enrollment dated within the current academic year, such as:
- Enrollment letter
- Current semester timetable or class schedule showing your name and institution
- Tuition receipt for the current term
- Student ID card with expiry date (or paired with separate proof if no date is printed)
Not accepted
- .edu or academic email address alone
- Screenshots from student portals without name and date
- Expired student IDs

Please wait until you receive an answer and please do not email us about the status. We try to process request within 5 business days.
You’ll receive an email about the decision. After you receive the confirmation, you can create a subscription via the subscription settings in the app (Settings > Subscription & Billing). Please make sure that you see the discount being applied in the last step of the checkout.
If you have an existing subscription, you should wait until the end of that period to upgrade to the plan with student discount. At the end of the subscription period, cancel your subscription and then go to Settings > Subscription & Billing to create the new subscription with the student discount applied.
Rejections are non-negotiable.

Renewal
WARNING
The discount applies for the first year. Unless cancelled before the date of renewal, your subscription will continue at the full amount. You will see details of your next payment in the Subscription settings. If you are still a student, you can reapply following the renewal process below.
If you decide to end your subscription, you’ll lose access to Capacities Pro features but you’ll keep your notes and you can continue using the free version.

Renewal Process
To reapply for a discount after your first year, follow this process.
- Reapply for a discount via this form. Your responses will be sent to the team, and we aim to review them within 5 business days. Make sure to submit your application at least 14 days before your subscription ends to ensure a smooth transition.
- After your application got accepted, you need to cancel your existing subscription and create a new yearly subscription by clicking on “Create new subscription” in the subscription settings. Please make sure that the discount is applied in the last step of the checkout.
- If rejected, you will not be able to reapply. You can either continue your subscription at the full price or cancel it.
FAQs
Why can’t I pay monthly? This is primarily due to limitations of our payment provider, Paddle. There are also good reasons to stick with an annual plan: it’s always cheaper than paying monthly, even without a discount, and during your studies it’s important to keep your tools consistent so your time goes into your work, not into switching setups.
How long does verification take? We review applications manually. Most are processed within 5 business days once all required documents are provided. Please do not email to chase responses, as this adds to the communication load and slows the team down.
Can high school students apply? Yes, as long as you can prove you are enrolled.
What happens if my application is rejected? Rejections are non-negotiable. If there’s an issue with the subscription that can be resolved we’ll let you know and you can reapply.
Does the discount apply to all plans? This discount applies to the annual Capacities Pro plan only.
Do I have to reapply every year? Yes. Annual verification ensures the program remains available only to currently enrolled students. You can read about the renewal process above.
I already have a subscription, what should I do? If you have an existing subscription, you should wait until the end of that period to upgrade to the plan with student discount.
At the end of the subscription period, cancel your subscription and then go to Settings > Subscription & Billing to create the new subscription with the student discount applied.
Can I transfer my student plan to someone else? No. The discount is linked to your account and verification documents.
What happens when I graduate? Your subscription will renew at the regular price unless you cancel or change your plan before renewal. You will get emails ahead of the renewal so you can decide on your next steps.
I work at an educational institution. Why can’t I get the student discount? This program is limited to currently enrolled students because it’s designed to support people who are still in their studies and often have limited financial resources. Lecturers and staff have regular incomes, so we’re focusing this support on those who need it most. As a small, bootstrapped company, we have to keep the program narrow and sustainable. We don’t plan to extend it beyond students.
Is it only for one year? You can reapply for the discount for as many years as you are a student. You will need to apply each year.
Data Processing
By submitting an application, you agree to Capacities reviewing your uploaded documents for the sole purpose of verifying your student status, and to securely deleting them after review. You consent to the processing of the personal data contained therein for the sole purpose of confirming your eligibility for the student discount. We will handle your data confidentially and in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the GDPR. Upon successful completion of the verification process, the submitted documents and any digital copies will be permanently deleted from our systems. Terms & Conditions
The student discount is a voluntary promotional offer granted at our sole discretion, and there is no legal entitlement to it. Eligibility requires the submission of a current and valid proof of student status from a recognized educational institution, which we reserve the right to verify at any time. The discount is non-transferable, cannot be combined with other promotions, and is valid only for the duration of the verified student status. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue this discount program at any time, as well as to refuse or revoke a discount in individual cases, particularly in the event of misuse, without providing a reason. In all other respects, the general Terms and Conditions of Capacities apply.
