Why can't I edit a label directly?
Why can't I edit a label directly?
Some labels can be changed from the label picker. Open the menu on a label to rename it, change its color or icon, or delete it.
When a label cannot be edited that way, Capacities guides you to the settings page where the change belongs.
Task status labels
Task status labels are managed in Settings > Task Management > Status Customization. From there you can add statuses, rename them, change colors and icons, and reorder the list.
See Task management for how statuses work in your workflow.
Label properties on your object types
For a label property on a custom object type (for example project status or meeting type), the full list of options lives in property settings:
- Open object settings from the
...menu above an object's title, or open the type from its dashboard. - Click the label property.
- Under Label set, add, rename, reorder, or remove labels.
Removing a label from the set also removes it from every object that uses it.
You can still pick labels and create new ones from the object page when properties are visible. Changes to the label list itself happen in property settings.
See Properties and Can I edit properties on the object page?.
Built-in labels on basic types
Category, Colors, and Topics on media and weblink types are fixed by design and cannot be renamed or extended. See Can I customize the options for Category, Colors, and Topics?.
